Step 1: Set the Stage
  1. Tell the students, “Now we’re going to learn how to say the names of the six presents or toys in Spanish!”
  2. Get them excited by saying, “Let’s see if you can guess and repeat the names like pros—are you ready?”

Step 2: Play the Audio
  1. Play Track 6: The Toys. The audio will teach the names of each toy step-by-step.
  2. Hold up the corresponding toy as it is mentioned in the audio so the students can connect the word with the object.

Step 3: Repeat and Practice
  1. After the audio says each toy's name, pause and have the students repeat it together.
  2. Encourage them to say the words with energy and excitement—cheer them on!

Step 4: Make It Interactive
  1. Keep the fun going by challenging your students with simple phrases like:
    • “Touch the ________.” (Toca el juguete.)
    • “Is this _______ or _______?” (¿Es _______ o _______?)
  2. If they get it right, cheer loudly in Spanish "Es correcto". (That’s correct!) If they need another try, gently say, “No es correcto, inténtalo otra vez." (That's not correct, try again.)

Step 5: Spread the Positivity
  1. After each correct answer or effort, shower the kids with praise using the fun expressions from week one:
    • “¡BRAVO!” (Great job!)
    • “¡QUÉ CHULO!” (How cool!)
    • “¡CUATRO APLAUSOS!” (Four claps!)
  2. Clap together, smile, and keep the energy high.

Step 6: Keep Building Confidence: Repeat the names of the toys a few times throughout the day to reinforce what they’ve learned. You can even let the kids take turns holding up the toys and leading the class why playing the audio file again and again!

2. CHOOSING A PRESENT!:  (20 minutes)

Get ready to spread holiday cheer with this simple and exciting activity! The objective is for you and your students to use the Spanish vocabulary in the table below to carry out this activity. The audio file will help you learn the vocabulary and phrases that you will use. 🎁🎅

What You'll Need:
  • Printouts of the six gift boxes and six toys pictured below. (Each gift box is labeled with a number, 1–6).
  • Tape to "wrap" the toys with the gift box pictures.
  • A Santa hat or reindeer headband for extra festive fun.
  • Audio File: Track 5: Choosing a Present. (Audio file is located under the vocabulary table below.)
  • The decorated Christmas tree picture from last week’s lesson or any Christmas tree.

Step 1: Prep the Gifts:
  1. Download and print the six gift box and toy pictures. (Each gift box measures about 5x7.)
  2. Tape each gift box on top of a toy picture so the toy is "wrapped" and hidden underneath.

Step 2: Get Into Character:
  1. Put on your Santa hat or reindeer headband to set the festive mood.
  2. Tell your students you’ll be pretending to be Santa Claus (Papá Noel, pronounced: Pah-PAH Noh-EL) or one of his reindeer (un reno, pronounced: oon RREH-noh).
  3. Play the beginning of Track 5 to practice saying Santa Claus and Reindeer in Spanish. Then pause the audio file.
  4. Show enthusiasm—your excitement will be contagious!

Step 3: Introduce the Gift Boxes:
  1. Show the students the six numbered gift boxes.
  2. Explain that hidden under each box is a picture of a toy, but they should use their imaginations to pretend the pictures are real!
  3. Count the numbers on the boxes aloud together in Spanish: uno, dos, tres, cuatro, cinco, seis.

Step 4: Explain How to Take a Turn:
  1. Tell the class that they will take turns  “opening” a present.
  2. To take a turn, they need to raise their hand and say the number of the gift box they want to open—in Spanish!
    • Uno, dos, tres, etc.
  3. Because you probably have more than six students in your class, you can rewrap the toys and repeat this activity so that each student gets a turn.

Step 5: Teach Key Spanish Phrases Before Continuing:
  1. Play Track 5: Choosing a Present to learn simple phrases you’ll need to carry out this activity in Spanish.
  2. Listen to the track together and repeat the phrases as a class. This will help everyone feel confident. (Track 5 and the vocabulary table is located below.)

Step 6: Choosing a Gift in Spanish!  Here is where the Spanish language comes in:
  1. Call on a student and in Spanish ask them in Spanish which present they want? "¿Cual regalo quieres?" (Which present do you want?) They should say the number of the gift box they want in Spanish.                                                                                   Example: "¡Quiero número tres!" (I want number three!)
  2. Hand them the gift box and say "Toma" (Here you go.) Then tell them "Abre el regalo." (Open the present.) They should “unwrap” the present by removing the box picture.

Step 7: Reveal and Celebrate:
  1. When the gift is revealed, ask the class: “What is it?” in English.
  2. Have the students say the name of the toy in English (e.g., a doll, a stuffed animal, etc.).
  3. Place the unwrapped gift under the Christmas tree picture from your last lesson.

Step 8: Keep the Fun Going!:
  1. Collect the empty gift box pictures and repeat the process with the next student.
  2. Build excitement with each turn by celebrating and clapping for the “opened” gift!

You’re all set! This simple activity is sure to bring joy, learning, and holiday spirit to your classroom. ¡Feliz Navidad! 🎄
