october week 4 EASY breezy Review

Get ready for some fun review activities to reinforce the Spanish vocab from the digital lesson! No Spanish? No problem! You can easily lead these activities, and you’ll be surprised how fast you and your students pick up new words. Dive in and enjoy teaching Spanish! Try one, two or all three activities this week—let the language adventure begin!

1. CLASSROOM OBJECTS (10 MINUTES)

Teaching classroom objects in Spanish is fun and simple! Just play the audio file below and show the visuals for each object as they're introduced. Use the "Classroom Objects Cheat Sheet" for quick reference. Get your students engaged by encouraging them to repeat the words aloud in Spanish and even sing along with the audio. For older students learning to read, take it a step further by have them help match the pictures to the flashcards. It's a great way to reinforce both vocabulary and reading skills!

Turn this into a game by calling out a classroom object and kids race to find it or them in your classroom. Stress the difference between singular and plural!

A Grammar Note: Understanding "the" in Spanish

In Spanish, there are four words for "the". I am going to teach you all four of them here.
1. "el": This means "the" and is used for **masculine singular nouns**. For example:  the book = el libro
2. "la": This also means "the" but is used for **feminine singular nouns**. For example:  the mom = la madre
3. "los":
This means "the" and is used for **masculine plural nouns**. For example:  the books = los libros
4. "las": This also means "the" but is used for **feminine plural nouns**. For example:  the moms = las madres

So Remember:
- Use "el" for masculine singular nouns (like "
the book" = el libro)
- Use "la" for feminine singular nouns (like "the mom" = la madre)
- Use "el" for masculine plural nouns (like "the books" = los libros)
- Use "la" for feminine plural nouns (like "the moms" = las madres)

2. CLASSROOM OBJECT COUNTING SHEET (10 MINUTES)

Get ready for a fun and exciting activity! Kids absolutely love this worksheet because they get to count the classroom objects in each picture and write the number in the box. Start by doing it together as a class—be sure to count aloud together IN SPANISH! Then, let your students take charge and complete their own worksheet. The best part? They can take their finished work home to show off to their parents! It's a perfect blend of learning and fun that students will be eager to share!

 3. Fun Family Tree Activity for Preschoolers and Older!: (15 minutes)

This family tree activity is so much fun and perfect for preschoolers and older kids! You’ll help your students share about their families using the family tree handout. Start by printing a copy for each student and one for yourself.

Kick off the activity by showing your own family tree! Draw simple faces for each family member in the circles, and as you do, introduce them in Spanish—like "Mi abuelo" (my grandpa) or "Mi papá" (my dad). Explain that "Mi" (pronounced "mee") means "my."

Next, give each student their own family tree handout. Let them have fun drawing their family members in the circles, then take turns sharing their family tree with the class using the new Spanish words! It’s a fun, interactive way for everyone to practice Spanish while learning about each other’s families! Add a sticker or star to every family tree and display them in your classroom or hallway for all to see. In a week or two let your students take them home and share it with their families!

                                                   Share Your Wins!

Every time we get your WINS  AND SUCCESSES in our inbox, we can’t help but do a little happy dance — to "Don't Stop Believing" or "La Bamba" of course! Why? Because success doesn’t exist in a vacuum. Your wins are our wins, and they’re proof for others that when you do the work, you get results.

Whether your students are finally beginning to repeat or sing in Spanish along with the online videos,  or say random words in Spanish throughout the day, or teachers are feeling more confident carrying out the follow-up activities, or parents are sharing that their child is saying words in Spanish at home — we want to hear your wins BIG and small!

Celebrating you always,
Theresa & Team HOLA
