Now it's your turn to shine! Follow up the digital lesson
by teaching your students the following activities:

october week 2: EASY breezy Review

Get ready for some fun review activities to reinforce the Spanish vocab from the digital lesson! No Spanish? No problem! You can easily lead these activities, and you’ll be surprised how fast you and your students pick up new words. Dive in and enjoy teaching Spanish! Try one, two or all three activities this week—let the language adventure begin!

 1. play LOTERÍA (BINGO): (15 minutes)

This Week’s Spanish Challenge: It’s All About Fun! You'll play "Bingo" (Lotería) in Spanish with your Halloween vocabulary from this week’s lesson! It’s going to be a blast! Here's how to make it fun for everyone:

Follow these steps to get started:

1. Watch the digital lesson from the beginning until 13:07 to see step-by-step instructions on how to play.

2. Prepare the game:
 - Download and print 6 Bingo cards (print enough for your whole class! If you have more than 6 students, some will share          cards—it’s more fun that way!).
- Download and print the **Halloween visuals (you may have these from Week 1).
- Gather Bingo chips (also called "las fichas" in Spanish, pronounced: "lahs fee-chahs"). If you don’t have Bingo chips,
no problem! Use buttons, Cheerios, raisins, or anything small and safe that can fit in the squares.

Let’s Play:
1. Pass out the Bingo cards and chips to your students.

 2. Tell everyone to cover the **FREE** space or "LIBRE" (pronounced: "lee-bdeh") on their cards.

3. Explain how to win: You can win by covering 4 corners, 5 in a row, or even the entire card (coverall)!

4. Now, let’s call out the cards! Hold up one Halloween picture at a time, say its name in Spanish, and encourage your
students to shout out the word if they have it on their card! (The vocabulary is also on the pronunciation poster below.)

5. Make it even more fun: Let your students take turns calling the Halloween vocabulary—kids LOVE being in charge of
    the game!

Bonus Fun:
Play Lotería again and again throughout the month to keep the fun going! It’s a festive way to practice Spanish and celebrate Halloween! 🎃

 2. act out & sing "the itsy bitsy spider" song in spanish
(10 minutes)

Get ready for lots of laughs, learning! 🎶

1. Warm-up Time: Start by singing the song together in English and acting it out. Get silly and have fun with the motions!

2. Next, it's time for Spanish! Play the audio file below, "How to Sing: Itsy, Bitsy Spider -O'Neill Language Academy" which teaches the song for you in both English and Spanish with super fun sound effects. The audio will also guide your students to act out the song—so they’re learning while moving! Refer to the "Song Lyrics Cheat Sheet for help."

3. Now, let's make it extra fun! Play the song by Cantarima (see button below) and act it out together over and over! The more you do it, the more they’ll love it! (The song by Cantarima is on Spotify and the button will take you there!)

3. Coloring Sheet (5-10 MINUTES)

Before the Coloring Fun Begins...

1. Introduce the Vocabulary: Gather your students in a circle or at their desks, and explain that before they get to color their fun Halloween picture, you’ll practice saying the vocabulary words in Spanish.

2. Go through each word: Hold up the picture and point to each object or character (for example, witch, pumpkin, cat, etc.) and say the word in Spanish. Use the pronunciation guides on the pictures or coloring sheet to help you say each word correctly.

3. Repeat the Words: Have your students repeat each word out loud after you. Encourage them to say it in fun voices or act out the words (like pretending to be a witch when saying "bruja").

4. Time to color!
🎨 As they are coloring, add a special touch by putting a sticker or drawing a smiley face on each sheet for your thumbs-up approval. Then, decorate your classroom with these colorful, bilingual masterpieces before sending them home to take over your students' refrigerators just in time for Halloween!

                                                   Share Your Wins!

Every time we get your WINS  AND SUCCESSES in our inbox, we can’t help but do a little happy dance — to "Don't Stop Believing" or "La Bamba" of course! Why? Because success doesn’t exist in a vacuum. Your wins are our wins, and they’re proof for others that when you do the work, you get results.

Whether your students are finally beginning to repeat or sing in Spanish along with the online videos,  or say random words in Spanish throughout the day, or teachers are feeling more confident carrying out the follow-up activities, or parents are sharing that their child is saying words in Spanish at home — we want to hear your wins BIG and small!

Celebrating you always,
Theresa & Team HOLA
